15 Week Challenge - Shoot Like Cartier Bresson

15 Week Challenge - Shoot Like Cartier Bresson
For this weeks task we were asked to shoot like a amour photographer (Cartier Bresson). He is an artist who captures pictures of strangers, on the streets and develops them in black and white.

Artists Photographs
This image which Cartier took, shows an elderly man with a tea cup and his camera.  It could be interpreted as his two passions, and what he enjoys. This artists photographs are constantly taken in black and white, which helps bring more detail to his photographs.

This image which has been produced by the artist has a different appearance due to the subjects faces in the image. It makes the viewer debate what they are talking about, and gives an added interest to the image.

And finally one of the artists most famous photos which he has taken, This image strays from his  regular work...It shows a motion image which is slightly blurred, which allows the artist to show off the motion in the image.

My Own Photographs
This image taken on the streets of Reykjavik Iceland, i have tried to follow the artists well known style of photographing unknown people. I loved how he was able to capture different personalities and cultures, through the eye of the camera lens. I have also made sure that my images are monochrome to add detail.

My second image is of a tourist, who is photographing the well designed graffiti art which had been sprayed upon a local pub. With this image i tried to capture a different perspective of the surroundings which the man is in! With the man also taking a photograph, i feel it makes the viewer consider what it is he is photographing, meaning they look into the image with more detail.

My final artist image issuance again taken in Reykjavik, shows a local sitting outside a coffee shop having a drink,  With this image i liked how the image was so calm with it being taken in the city centre.

15 Week Challenge - Repetition

15 Week Challenge - Repetition
For this weeks task of repetition i have decided to look at artists in the art industry as well as those in photography for my inspiration.

Artists Photographs
Andy Warhol was one of the major artists who inspired me for this project. I liked the way he used the exact same image and repeated it multiple times to add more interest to his images, it also allows him to display them as large works of art as well as small.

This piece is probable one of his most famous, due to the fact it features Marilyn Monroe as the subject of the print. But with this image containing multiple colours i felt that it was perhaps aimed at a different audience to the last.

This image has been photographed by a greek artist, the repetition in this image is shown in two places. The first are the shadows of the beam poles which are spaced in the exact same proportions, due to them all being parallel. And the second way repetition is shown is by the actual beams themselves, the way they are positioned and the way the image has been captured, has meant that the image looks longer than i actually is, it also creates an aspect of false space.

My Own Photographs
The line of gun cartridges shows clear repetition in this photograph, I loved how the matte brown leather brought out the shine of the metal, to enhance the colour.

This image is of hexagonal rock faces, which are repeated along a 500 meter stretch in Iceland, This photo opportunity appealed to me because of how unusual it was compared to things in the UK.
This image once again shows one set of repetition with the houses (restaurant and bar). I liked how the colours came up against the dramatic background, as i felt that this helped draw the eye to these areas.
