15 Week Challenge - Shoes

15 Week Challenge - Shoes
Week two of the 15 week challenge was shoes, for this task I decided that a composition of objects with shoes being the centre piece, would be a nice way to portray the photographs in which i had taken.

Artists Photographs
This is the image which inspired me to experiment with the image of my Vans in a tree, i felt that t created an abstract feel to the image, as it is not the normal place where you would picture a pair of trainers,(or in this case heels).

This image was taken by an amateur polish artist, who was photographing a toddlers first shoes. This artist has also created depth to his photo by making the foreground standout, by not being blurred.

For my final artist image i chose a close up of some boot laces, to show different ways in which you can experiment with your photographs, and that all the different element of images can be interesting.

My own Photographs
This first photograph features a pair of worn Dubary shooting boots, The boots are situated amongst a tweed jacket and a handful of gun cartridges, by using these props it helps create a story line for the pair of shoes, and what they may be used for in day to day life.
The boots show minor scuffs and scratches which i feel also adds some depth to the shoes, and not to mention it also brings a whole lot more character to the still life composition.

This was a photograph which was inspired to me by an african tradition of hanging shoes on trees for good luck, I felt that i would like to take my own perspective of this tradition when it came to the task of "shoes".
This photograph is slightly different to the one above, instead of the camera being focused on the shoes, it is focusing on the branches of the tree which they are hung in. I love the way that just the outline of the shoe is shown, this is done by editing the aperture setting on the camera.

This image also involves the same composition as the above photograph, minus the boots. By swapping the type of shoe, i creates a completely different image, but it also helps to link the two with their similarities.

15 Week Challenge - Self Portrait

15 Week Challenge - Self Portrait
For the 15 week challenge, The first week happened to be self portrait. For this task I felt that thinking outside the box would be the way forward, so thats exactly what I have tried to do.

Artist Photographs
This is my first artist photograph which inspired me for the above images,  I loved how the reflection of the kettle created a more curved image than normal, i also thought that the almost blurred look created a more interesting look to the image.

This image is similar to the one shown above, the difference which i liked more in this though, was how the whole background was a reflective material.

I also like how this image created more than one repetition of  Misty, who is the artist featured in the image.  The way the image was taken (A mirror, behind a mirror) showed many different angles of her which i thought was an unusual way to go about things.

My own Photographs
This was the fist image which I took which other items so it stood out more, (like the helmet and bike in the background. I felt that by adding these things it makes the reflection stand out more to the photos which i had previously taken.

This was my final image, and the one which i was happiest with. I feel that being more zoomed in it allows the eye to focus on the reflection more without the background corruption.
